“Action Words” are a pitfall waiting to happen, unless you apply them intelligently to your resume and cover letter. If you apply action words with care, they may hit enough satisfiers in the prospective employer’s brain to almost guarantee you an interview.

Every person studying a resume has a set of pre-determined satisfiers floating around inside their head. Your resume’s sole purpose is to trip enough switches inside the reader’s head that it finds itself into the “Yes” pile and avoids the dreaded “No” bin. One way to increase the odds in your favor is to use some of the Action Words below:
